Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool and can help with a huge variety of lifestyle problems. Many people who "dabble" in this method to resolve their issues do so initially using self-help videos and CD's. Whilst these have their place, they are, by their very nature, generic and thus tend to be less effective because they cannot focus specifically on the individual and their particular requirements. 

Everybody is different so one-to-one hypnotherapy will always prove more successful. By gathering a host of background information about my client and reviewing progress on a regular basis, I can use a far more targeted and holistic approach by utilising various techniques and thus tailor the therapy to suit their specific needs.

Hypnotherapy is a fast, effective and powerful tool for the permanent eradication of unwanted habits and smoking is probably the easiest of all because the physical addiction is less than ten per cent; the rest is all in the mind, which, as we know already, can be re-educated.


As with Weight Control, we will be using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy where you are guided into a deeply relaxed state enabling direct access to your subconscious mind, for it is here where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed. Using positive suggestions, we are able to focus on those behaviours that you wish to change and, as long as you have a genuine desire to quit, you leave the therapy room after a single, fairly intense three-hour session as a non-smoker - for good.

Diets Don't Work!


 

But you probably already know that. No doubt you've tried every weight-loss plan known to man (and woman) and are resigned to the fact that they just don't work for you - and the reason they don't work is because they don't produce sustainable change.


Often, and in spite of what we feel are our best efforts, we seem unable to control our eating habits or achieve a sustainable weight loss for any significant period of time. But weight control is not about that latest fad diet because diets rarely bring about lasting change in our attitudes, emotional responses, and habits towards our food. Diets do not address the root causes of why we overeat.


Changing the role food plays in our lives is the key to successful long-term weight control. It is all about creating a healthy mental relationship with food and exercise and this is what we try to do during hypnotherapy where we focus together on the solution rather than the problem. This approach is hugely successful and encourages you to re-build your self-esteem so that you begin to feel good about yourself, because when we feel good about ourselves we feel motivated and therefore we are far more likely to achieve our goals.


It will help you address the cause of your particular Weight Control issue and help you to make changes in your life so that any unhelpful patterns of behaviour can be altered. During the positive state of trance, as your therapist, I will access your subconscious mind to bring about a change in your old eating habits and to resolve any emotional reasons for over-eating etc, helping you to make sustainable lasting changes, to eat healthily and at the same time manage your weight in a safe and natural way.

A Way to Resolve Fears & Phobias

Fear is a natural response caused by a real danger. It's a survival instinct which warns us against certain things or situations. A phobia, however, is an irrational fear of an object or situation that causes little or no danger. For example, arithmophobia (fear of numbers) may cause certain individuals anxiety, but the fear itself won’t cause any danger. Phobias are linked to our subconscious, and because they are irrational, they can often be dealt with effectively through hypnosis.

In most cases, the solution is to see the phobia in a different context starting from an objective perspective and then gradually building up exposure from a minimal to a comfortable level as with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which, by its very nature, can take some time to achieve the desired result.


Using hypnosis, this can be done rapidly, as the subconscious is able to process information more effectively without the interference of the critical conscious mind. This is known as "desensitization".

Often phobias can be treated in just two sessions. There is, however, no guarantee, as change depends on the individual's willingness to embrace it. We will therefore always discuss a realistic expectation of how long treatment may last.

There is no 'one size fits all' appr
oach to treating phobias or, indeed to any aspect of hypnotherapy, as all clients are considered individually, so how we develop the therapy together will largely depend on whether you know how and when the phobia began, how you currently view it and how receptive you are to change.

BREAKING UNWANTED HABITS

Our subconscious mind is like our automatic pilot. Once it's programmed, it continues to do the same thing the same way for the rest of our lives becoming our “automatic pilot”. However, when wishing to change a habit, many people get stuck because the habitual subconscious mind doesn't respond to their usual approaches to self-improvement.

Unwanted habits can respond very well to hypnotherapy because they are unconscious behaviours so treating them at an unconscious level can be very effective.

The most commonly-treated habits include:

  • Nail Biting  
  • Hair & Eyebrow / Eyelash Pulling 
  • Blushing 
  • Thumb Sucking
  • Teeth Grinding

Some habits can be connected to specific conditions such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), which require specialist treatment from medical professionals, although Hypnotherapy can successfully complement and enhance other forms of treatment.
