"Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable morbidity and mortality in the UK"
British Medical Association
Figures show that approximately 114,000 people in the UK die from smoking-related diseases every year. Smoking not only affects the health of the individual who smokes but also the health of anyone else who breathes in their smoke (passive smoking) and the health of the Nation with a staggering cost to the NHS with patients suffering with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), invariably caused by smoking cigarettes. It has also been identified as a high-risk factor for those unfortunate enough to catch Covid-19 and be hospitalised with serious consequences for health and survival.
As a smoker, giving up the habit is the greatest single step you can take to improve your health and prolong your life and the benefits start the moment you stop.
You reduce the risk of getting all manner of serious diseases no matter what age you give up but the sooner you stop smoking, the greater the reduction in your risk. For example, within 10 to 15 years of giving up smoking, an ex-smoker will only be marginally more likely to develop lung cancer than someone who has never smoked at all.
Hypnotherapy is a fast, effective and powerful tool for the permanent eradication of unwanted habits and smoking is probably the easiest of all because the physical addiction is less than ten per cent; the rest is all in the mind, which, as we know already, can be re-educated.
As with Weight Control, we will be using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy where you are guided into a deeply relaxed state enabling direct access to your subconscious mind, for it is here where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed. Using positive suggestions, we are able to focus on those behaviours that you wish to change and, as long as you have a genuine desire to quit, you leave the therapy room as a non-smoker - for good.
